Summary of Position:
Under general direction the primary responsibilities include the development and reporting of the statutory financial statements, coordinating and performing the input and reconciliation of month-end general ledger activity, and performing various financial analysis functions. Recommends opportunities to enhance the process and operational standards. This position will also lead to opportunities for advancement.
Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities:
Meet all regulatory agency reporting requirements including monthly, quarterly and annual statement filings with appropriate organizations.
Assist in preparation of financial information.
Record the majority of underwriting activity and coordinate the timely reporting of performance.
Primary lead position and subject matter expert as it relates to ensuring proper positing and balancing for premium, loss, commissions and Incurred but not Reported (IBNR), etc.
Lead position for ensuring the account reconciliation database is updated, accurate and complete.
Reconcile and analyze account reconciliations as needed.
Ensure all accruals are properly stated and supported.
Support the annual external audit process, ensuring schedules provided are accurate and provided in a timely manner with proper supporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with NAIC & State of Florida OIR requirements and requests.
Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and testing for respective area including the development of internal audit functions.
Ensure accuracy and reconciliation of all investment accounting transactions.
Qualifications
Understanding of insurance products and financial reporting.
Solid financial analysis and/or understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Understanding of insurance investment accounting.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong Planning, Analytical, Problem Solving / Decision Making skills.
Works effectively both independently and in team environment.
4-year college degree, major in accounting. CPA preferred.
3- 5 years of experience in general and insurance accounting or auditing insurance clients, preferably with extensive systems and Property Casualty exposure.
Strong PC skills in Word, Excel and Access.
Audit exposure and technique.
